ESTABLISHMENT

In 1969, on the orders / advise of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama some disciples came to Mundgod, Karnataka from Baksa in Assam. Established this Vidyapeeth in 1970, as it was necessary to give the teachings of Lord Buddha to the future generations as per the teachings of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.

Vidyapeeth has been established with the aim of enlightening the present generation on the teachings of Lord Buddha, his life style, compassion concern for others and other streams of thought of Lord Buddha. Vidyapeeth established with the aim of imparting the knowledge of Lord Buddha to the young generation and to the society. At the initial stage of Vidyapeeth there were only 22 students who were taught to read, only Tibetan language.

Then in 1975, after completing Ph.D. from Varanasi, a group of Gurus arrived in this Vidyapeeth with the purpose of conducting systematic lessons, mainly discussion, essay on Tibetan grammar, history of Tibetans, society, English and mathematics. Later on, the complete details of the activities carried out in this Vidyapeeth were given to the Trijang Rinpoche, teacher of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and Zong Rinpoche another Respected Guru of Gaden Shartse monastery in Mundgod.

Later, as more lamas from Himalaya and Tibet started coming to Mundgod, classes like LKG, UKG and further from class 1st to 10th classes were started in this Vidyapeeth. For every 6 months we started to conduct midterm and yearly annual examinations. After 2007 computer education, English and Chinese language teachings were started.

Previous and present Abbot and teachers taught the students, how to be disciplined in life and giving knowledge about the society which leads to the development of each student’s personality.

Tibetan chairman and Tibetan prime minister visited the school and shared their happiness about the school. They suggested to teachers make ongoing current events of the country and world.

SCHOOL TIME TABLE

Morning       –  8.30 am to 11.15am

Afternoon & Evening   –  2.30pm to 5.15pm

There are 6 periods per day & classes are held for 6 days in a week.

Holidays were given during Indian national festivals and Tibetan national festivals.

EXAMINATION

Mainly 3 levels of examinations in school

First stage

Exams conducts after 3 months from the beginning of the first class for LKG to 5th class.

Second stage

Half year examinations are conducted for all the classes.

Third stage

Annual examinations are conducted for all classes.

EXAM RESULTS

The results are declared to the students in percentage.

A – 1st standard to 10th standard

B – 12th standard for 5 years

C – 3rd Stage Graduation for 3 years

D – 4th Stage Post-Graduation for 2 years

E – 5th Stage Master of philosophy for 2 years

F – 6th Stage Ph.D. for 6 years

TEACHERS RECRUITMENT PROCESS

The Principal, Secretary, and Teachers are appointed by monastery Lamas through voting.

7 Teachers for special debate class are also appointed by monastery Abbot and principal of the school.

Vidyapeeth expenses are maintained by donations collected by Gaden Shartse Monastery and the school.
